Abstract

A detailed analysis of characteristics of verbal reactions in interview protocols is described along with an investigation of the relationships between these characteristics and global judgments of adjustment level based upon the same protocols. “Rather low but highly significant relationships were found” between adjustment level and verbal reactions toward the self and the world. “If it can be assumed that perceptual changes underly changes in verbal reactions, the findings in the present investigation give added support to studies and theories which imply that global changes in adjustment level are related to changes in how people perceive themselves and their worlds.” 29-item bibliography.
