Abstract

Six months after having primary pulmonary histoplasmosis, a young man developed progressive dissemination enhanced by steroid therapy, which had been given because the initial illness was diagnosed as sarcoidosis. Subsequently, he venerally transmitted his infection to his wife. Man-to-man transmission of histoplasmosis has not been previously reported, to our knowledge.
