During the past 5 years a number of books on echocardiography have been published. However, there is still need for more from different laboratories to emphasize different viewpoints of this growing field and to cater to the readers of varied interests. This book is written for the medical student, the physician, and the technician with no previous knowledge of echocardiography. The introductory chapters on physics of ultrasound and cardiac anatomy will be especially welcome to the technician. A brief discussion of the equipment and echocardiographic recording technique follows. Subsequently, normal and abnormal echo patterns are discussed.
