Abstract

To the editor: Recent reports have focused attention on the isolation of a variety of thymine-requiring pathogens from patients with various infectious processes. Many of these pathogens have been isolated from the urinary tract of patients undergoing treatment with co-trimoxazole. The first case was that of a 34-year-old man with T8 paraplegia secondary to a gunshot wound. This patient had a suprapubic catheter and a long history of chronic urinary-tract infections sometimes treated
