Abstract
According to this study:Older women who undergo cataract surgery have a lower risk of total and cause-specific mortality than those who have cataracts but don't have the procedure. This result doesn't prove a causal relationship between cataract surgery and reduced mortality, however; factors such as higher socioeconomic status and a healthier lifestyle could also explain this association.
