Abstract

SUMMARYThreshold intrathecal concentrations of procaine produce anesthesia through a selective blockade of the dorsal root ganglions. The occurrence of procaine in threshold concentrations in the spinal fluid of man during peridural anesthesia can account, in part, for the production of sensory block with this technique. The spread of watery radiopaque solution within the peridural space was studied.
