Abstract

In-vitro studies show CPD-preserved bank blood to have certain advantages over ACD-preserved blood. In addition to increased length of storage, the higher pH of CPD blood improves the 2,3-DPG level, thereby increasing oxygen release to the tissues in cases where this may be a critical factor.
