The technique of shoulder fusion described has been successful in ten cases. It utilizes intra-articular arthrodesis, rigid internal fixation, a viable muscle-pedicle bone graft, and plaster-cast immobilization. A technique to determine the optimum position before operation using local anesthesia and temporary fixation of the joint with two small Steinmann pins is described. This was used successfully in two patients.
