Abstract

The health select committee is an influential body of MPs appointed by the House of Commons to examine Department of Health policy and administration. The committee announced the inquiry into the NHS workforce in England on 27 January 2006 and on 15 March the College submitted written evidence to the committee. The inquiry presented a timely opportunity for the College to raise concerns about the impact that recent and planned initiatives within the NHS could have on the surgical workforce. Most of these issues have been discussed in previous issues of the Bulletin.
