Abstract

The Royal College of Surgeons of England rugby club is flourishing but needs your support. It has very young history when compared with the United Hospitals Cup (the oldest competition, dating back to 1874 and still being played despite mary amalgamations of the London teaching hospitals). Our College club was founded in 2003 to play against the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh for the Park-Parker Cup. The first game was played at the Rosslyn Park ground on the morning of the Calcutta Cup and, sadly, after suturing various parts of players' anatomy from both sides. I presented the Cup to the Edinburgh side who had been triumphant, reversing a large half-time lead by the English College. The next two years belonged to England winning in Edinburgh and in London.
