Abstract

The mini-clinical evaluation exercise (mini-CEX) evolved in response to research performed in the 1980s and 1990s highlighting the shortcomings of traditional methods of clinical evaluation, and the lack of clinical observation in new graduates.1,2The medical royal colleges have integrated the mini-CEX into all training schemes in the UK.
