Abstract

Synopsis:Elderly patients with clinically suspected idiopathic pulmonary hypertension (IPAH) often fail to meet usual hemodynamic criteria because of elevated pulmonary capillary wedge pressures (PCWP). Those with normal PCWP by current criteria for diagnosing PAH had worse survival than those with elevated PCWP.Source:Shapiro BP, McGoon MD, Redfield MA.
