Abstract

In a 75-year-old woman, following intravenous administration of Tc-99m DTPA into an arm, considerable activity appeared in the inferior vena cava. Because an extracardiac shunt (aorta to inferior vena cava) was not present, this finding suggested tricuspid insufficiency. The diagnosis was confirmed by Doppler echocardiography.
