Taxol: A case study

Taxol is a novel antineoplastic agent that has demonstrated significant activity in ovarian carcinoma. Clinical trials are now underway to determine its use in combination with other chemotherapeutic agents, cytokines, and other cancers. The purpose of this article is to review clinical trials using Taxol and relevant nursing care for patients receiving this drug. The nursing implications for Taxol's administration, side effects, and toxicities are also presented. Knowledge of Taxol allows the nurse to provide optimal nursing care and to create appropriate patient care and teaching plans.
