Abstract

Two controversial ethical issues are reviewed: the growing public and professional interest in the repercussions of sexual abuse, and the continuing enmeshment of forensic psychiatry in the administration of capital punishment. Both of these topics have polarized the field by the intensity of diverging opinions, and no entirely satisfactory resolution for either is in view.
