Abstract

The shift of schizophrenic patients into community care has stimulated psychological research into factors influencing the course of this post-hospitalization phase. This review covers two topics: family affective attitudes and cognitive deficits, which emerge during this phase of the patient's treatment. Psychosocial interventions stimulated by research into these topics are reviewed in relation to the efficacy and possible mechanisms of action.
