Abstract

Depression is common in neurological disorders, although the precise prevalence rates and aetiological factors are still under debate.Modern imaging techniques are giving a better understanding of the pathogenesis of depression. New standardized depression rating scales designed for use in neurological and medical illnesses are shedding new light on the phenomenology. Finally, newer and safer antidepressants may be of particular use in this group of patients. Curr Opin Psychiatry 11:627-633.
