Abstract

The preparation of well-defined, structured hydrogel microparticles based on hyperbranched polyglycerol (HyPG) was studied using three different techniques. Rigid-micromolding, the first method, resulted in well-defined microparticles, however the yields were low. The two other methods, soft-micromolding and photolithography, were both suitable to accurately tailor the size and shape of HyPG-MA microgels and obtain a high yield. The microgels showed limited swelling indicating that particles were obtained that are rather dimensionally stable.
