Abstract

To investigate hydrogels with weak mechanical properties, we developed a new method based on the relaxation behaviour of superparamagnetic nanoparticles (MNPs). These MNPs are incorporated into the hydrogel as probes. By analyzing their relaxation behaviour, incorporated and immobilized nanoparticles can be studied. To estimate the capability of the method, the gel formation process of a photo-crosslinked hydrogel system for drug delivery is monitored and compared to swelling experiments.
