Abstract

Abstract summaryPoly(α-butyl cyanoacrylate) (PBCA) nanoparticles for intracellular delivery of protein were prepared by anionic polymerization method and characterized for their physicochemical properties, cytotoxicity and cellular uptake in dendritic cells (DC). The particles were in the nanometer size range and exposed a negative surface charge. Upon addition of protein, the particles became larger with slightly reduced zeta potential. Dextran, used as stabilizer, was found to retard the release of protein and reduce cytotoxicity of PBCA nanoparticles. The particles were efficiently taken up by the dendritic cells.
