Congenital and acquired deformities of the leg are now investigated with a number of modalities and over the past year there have been further descriptions of the use of ultrasound, radiography, and imaging with computed tomography and magnetic resonance scans. Inevitably, the hip continues to be the site of major concern and intervention, so this review has included details about osteotomies and arthroplasty. Disorders affecting the knee and the foot have also been encountered and some of the more important papers have been abstracted. Finally, reference is made to research about the basic science of growth, where new techniques hold out great promise for future improvements in the treatment of children with locomotor disorders of the lower limb.
