Abstract

Surgery of the cervical spine is a demanding discipline with potentially catastrophic complications. An understanding of the anatomy is the key to avoiding these complications. The purpose of this paper is to review the major complications, diagnoses, and treatments associated with both anterior and posterior approaches to the cervical spine, as well as those associated with harvesting and implanting autogenous bone graft.
