Abstract

This review covers the current pediatric orthopedic literature that focuses mainly on common hip disorders. The articles review analyzed patient-based data with special emphasis on posttreatment, clinical, and radiologic evaluation. The studies included here deal with the value of hip sonography in the early diagnosis and treatment of developmental dislocation of the hip and with the results of primary and secondary surgical procedures for treating this condition and its complications—from the first year of life to adolescence. The surgical outcomes of femoral osteotomy for Perthes' disease, congenital short femur, and angular deformities of long bones are also discussed.
