Abstract

Prematurity is the leading cause of perinatal morbidity and mortality. Obstetric management is outlined and the implications that enable the anaesthesiologist to provide optimal care are reviewed. Regional anaesthesia is the method of choice for labour and vaginal or Caesarean delivery. However, when indicated one should not fear using general anaesthesia.
