Pharmacological therapies for substance dependence

Abstract

Important advances are occurring in the area of substance abuse pharmacotherapy.New treatments are being developed, founded on preclinical and clinical studies, and more established treatments are under further exploration and refinement. This review will examine recent studies of the pharmacological treatment of heroin, cocaine, alcohol, and nicotine dependence.
