Abstract

This paper expands on Dr. Piper's concept of the four critical variables and application of the rules of evidence. This expansion focuses on the need to consider the research design as integral to the research process. An argument is presented to support that the design itself should be considered an efficacy variable, and the relationship of design to study outcome is investigated.
