False-Positive Splenic Activity on Bone Scan

Abstract

A Tc-99m MDP bone scan in a woman revealed splenic uptake of radlolabel. However, the previous (and the following) bone scan did not demonstrate this extraosseous accumulation. The finding was related to a cardiac blood pool scan the previous day, with probable splenic pooling of labeled and denatured red blood cells.
