Tc-99m Sestamibi SPECT Imaging of a Retroesophageal Parathyriod Adenoma

Abstract

An 81-year-old woman had a retroesophageal parathyroid adenoma, assessed by Tc-99m sestamibi scintigraphy. SPECT imaging with three-dimensional reconstruction was helpful in the preoperative detection of the ectopic parathyroid tumor and it contributed to successful surgical intervention.
