A 62-year-old woman was examined in the emergency department for worsening shortness of breath and dyspnea on exertion. Chest radiographs and subsequent contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) of the chest showed a left hilar mass. A transbronchial biopsy was performed, revealing lymphoid cells, positive for L26, CD10, and BCL-2 markers, consistent with grade I follicular B-cell lymphoma. A dual-head, coincidence gamma camera system used for positron emission tomography (PET) with F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) was negative for the presence of lymphoma. Subsequently, whole-body planar and tomographic chest images obtained using Tc-99m depreotide were concordant with the findings of anatomic imaging (CECT) for the presence of lower neck, mediastinal, and inguinal lymphoma. Initial evaluation using Tc-99m depreotide may be a viable alternative for the staging and post-therapy evaluation of low-grade lymphomas.
