In some circles victims of radium poisoning are regarded as curiosities, and the view advanced that careful studies of the cases - particularly such fundamental studies as the distribution of radium in the system-are of secondary importance. This view arises from the fact that most of the reported cases arose from uninformed carelessness in one occupation, luminous watch and instrument dial painting, in which protective measures have now been taken (Le32; US29).
