John T. H. Mandeville; Peter A. D. Rubin
Excerpt
With the growing elderly population in the United States—the number of Americans older than age 65 will nearly double in the next 20 years 1 —there is an increase in the demand for facial rejuvenation techniques to regain a youthful appearance. This demand is accompanied by an increasing social acceptance of cosmetic surgery, and those from all socioeconomic strata are interested in having cosmetic procedures. Patients seek quick and effective therapies, with minimal morbidity and loss of time from work. As experts in the upper half of the face, ophthalmologists will be involved in periocular rejuvenation and its complications.
