We report the case of a white European 6-year-old boy suffering from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) who experienced cardiovascular adverse effects with methylphenidate and did not respond to tricyclic antidepressants. The product of a full-term pregnancy and normal delivery, he had normal developmental milestones in his first 2 years. An episode of febrile seizures occurred when he was 12 months old. His mother died of adenomatous polyposis of the colon when he was 2 years old. His father had mild mental retardation.
