Ulcerative Colitis and Sensorineural Hearing Loss: Is There a Relationship?

ABSTRACT

A number of systemic complications are recognized in patients with ulcerative colitis. We describe a patient with this disease who developed severe bilateral sensorineural hearing loss and vestibular dysfunction. Her hearing deficit improved dramatically with corticosteroids and cyclophosphamide therapy. The association between these two conditions has not previously been reported.
