Abstract
The author, formerly a nursing administrator, views two complementary modes of healing—the masculine and feminine—and shares how their differences in focus have sharpened in her perception since her return to nursing practice. Her sensitive discussion, which emphasizes that both the masculine and feminine healing modes are interwoven in individual physicians and nurses, offers a meaningful and thought-provoking perspective on the role conflict nurses face, and their responsibilities, both to the nursing profession and to other health care workers.
