Abstract

Background

The optimal management for undisplaced scaphoid fractures has been the focus of much debate. Investigators have advocated internal fixation of these fractures; however, whether surgery improves clinically relevant patient outcomes compared with casting remains unknown.

Objective

To determine the effect of internal fixation versus casting for undisplaced scaphoid fractures on the rates of union, return to work, grip strength, and range of motion.
