Injuries to the extrahepatic biliary tract in blunt abdominal trauma are rare:1 the most frequent site is at the level of the distal common bile duct (CBD) in the superior border of the pancreas. 2 Although the rarity of these injuries has precluded a uniform treatment recommendation, 3 surgery represents the usual treatment in these cases. 4 We report a case of traumatic complete disruption of the left hepatic duct successfully treated by endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and stenting, after failure of surgical repair.
