Running injuries are amongst the most common musculoskeletal injuries presenting to the sports clinician. Most commonly related to overuse, running injuries are accompanied by a host of intrinsic and extrinsic risk factors that must be addressed in addition to the injury itself. In each instance, the entire kinetic chain should be evaluated and treated appropriately in order to facilitate healing and return to to full activity. Biomechanics, assessment, common injuries and their relationships within the kinetic chain, equipment, and rehabilitation will be reviewed. At the completion of this session, participants will have a working knowledge of the etiology and treatment of running injuries with an emphasis on relationships throughout the kinetic chain.
