Excerpt
It has been observed that the degree of interindividual variability (IV) in affective responses during acute exercise varies with exercise intensity (Ekkekakis & Petruzzello, 1999). Additionally, approximately half of the participatns in a 30-min, 60% VO2max bout of cycle ergometry reported progressive improvement in affective valence, whereas the other half reported progressive decline (Van Landuyt et al., 2000). The dual-mode theory of affective responses to exercise (Ekkekakis, in press) was developed to account for these and other related findings.
