Excerpt

A 22-year-old senior college football linebacker presented with sudden sharp pain in his neck which radiated into his right shoulder during a game. This resolved in less than a minute. He presented two days after the game with continued neck stiffness. At his time he complained of no numbness, tingling, weakness, or radiation of pain into his upper extremities. He did have a history of “stingers” of both upper extremities at two other occasions in his college career. He denied any systemic symptoms such as fever, photophobia, or lethargy. He denies any particular trauma resulting in loss of consciousness. He denies any neurological symptoms in his lower extremities. The pain was isolated to the upper cervical region and was exacerbated with any motion.
