Accelerometry-based activity monitors are a commonly used measure of physical activity. The Biotrainer and Actitrac monitors (IM Systems) offer some advantages over existing monitors (e.g. ease of use, flexible sensitivity setting and lower cost) but they have not been tested under controlled conditions.
