HISTORY: A 16-year-old junior high school female volleyball player with a 4 month history of left foot pain with no specific mechanism of injury. It initially bothered her just after playing, but the pain gradually got worse and progressed to bothering her more frequently and with daily activities. She complained of pain radiating from the lisfranc joint down to the 1st webspace. She denies any numbness or burning pain in st her lower extremity.
PHYSICAL EXAMINATION: Examination revealed good ankle and subtalar range of motion, and good ankle stability. There was normal sensation below the knee in each lower leg, and throughout both feet. She had pain with a standing toe raise, and tenderness over the doral midfoot and in the 1st webspace. There was no pain with st abduction stress, but there was pain with direct palpation over the 1st tmt joint and the st lisfranc ligament. There was no swelling.
