Excerpt
Glucose phosphorylation is a key site for controlling muscle glucose uptake (MGU) during exercise since hexokinase II (HK) overexpression augments exercise-stimulated MGU and reductions in HK attenuate exercise-stimulated MGU. We hypothesized that modifying free glucose influx into the working muscle would spare glycogen and delay fatigue.
