We are pleased that Tubbs et al. found our research project and article1 interesting. These authors have added noteworthy qualitative reports of the position of the palmar arches. The purpose of our study was to identify the location of the palmar arches in relation to surface and bony landmarks. Our article significantly augmented previous reports of palmar arch locations by providing practical quantifiable data. In particular, we found the distal wrist crease to be a reliable surface landmark for both the superficial and deep palmar arches, given its clear delineation and the consistency in measurements in our cadaver dissection. We feel that our study significantly enhances past anatomical reports by providing clinically applicable information to ease surgical dissection and interpretation of abnormal arteriograms.
