February 2005 ushered in Pediatric Emergency Care's participation in an online manuscript submission and review system. Our goals in deciding to have the journal take part in this new technology were to decrease the time between submission and review, to take advantage of electronic submission to eliminate mail delays, and to give authors access to the progress of their manuscripts via the Internet. As always, our reviewers adapted to the challenges of the new system, and continued to provide thorough, educational reviews of the many manuscripts that were sent to them. We thank them again for their willingness to share their knowledge and expertise. As academic physicians become more and more busy, it is easy to decline to do what is not essential. However, the peer review process is essential. We thank those who have not shielded themselves with the ''too busy'' defense and have taken the time to fulfill this important academic mission. Our appreciation is most sincerely felt.
