Astrocytic hamartomas of the retina and optic disk are usually associated with tuberous sclerosis or less frequently with neurofibromatosis, whereas isolated cases unassociated with any disease may occasionally be encountered.1 On rare occasions, astrocytic hamartoma may also be seen in eyes with retinitis pigmentosa.1,2 We herein report a highly unusual case of a patient with astrocytic hamartoma of the optic disk associated with gyrate atrophy of the choroid and retina.
