The current issue of Shock contains one review article (1), one clinical study (2), and 12 basic science studies that address various aspects of hemorrhagic shock (3-6), the coagulation system (7, 8), the role of heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1) (9, 10), and the high mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) (11). The remaining basic science studies investigated anaphylaxis (12), neonatal asphyxia (13), and heat stroke (14).
