Nursing is the art and science that assists individuals and their families to reach levels of wellness through regaining, maintaining, or preserving one's health. The nurse places emphasis on the person's response to disease and maintenance of health. The nursing model includes biologic factors as well as psychological, social, and cultural concerns. The holistic valuing of mind, body, and spirit is evident when providing care to patients and families.
