Parameters to Aid in Optimizing Progenitor Collection in Children: 25
Excerpt
Optimal timing of hematopoeitic progenitor collection is often difficult to predict in children. Peripheral CD34 counts ideally should be used to guide adequate harvesting and therefore optimize the quality of the stem cell product. However, the CD34 count is not always available, as the results may be delayed or unavailable. We therefore have assessed whether a surrogate marker exists that will aid in predicting the peripheral CD34 count and reflect early marrow regeneration.
