In a recent article (Borak J, Woolf SH, Fields CA. Use of BeLPT for screening of asymptomatic individuals: An evidence-based assessment. J Occup Environ Med. 2006;48:937–947), the Acknowledgement section failed to mention that one of the authors (S.H. Woolf) had previously prepared an affidavit in 2001 for a law firm that represented Brush Wellman, a beryllium manufacturer, and that reimbursed him for his consultation. The evidence review that he conducted in preparing the affidavit later served as a resource for the updated evidence review in this paper. Dr. Woolf has never received direct financial support from Brush Wellman, either for coauthoring the recent article or for any other purpose. As reflected in the disclosure statement accompanying the paper, neither the law firm nor Brush Wellman had any influence on the content of the article, which is solely the product of the authors.
In an article published in the Journal (Harber P, Crawford L, Liu K, Schacter L. Working words: real-life lexicon of North American workers. J Occup Environ Med. 2005;47:859–864.), the name of Mr. Levanto Schachter was misspelled. Mr. Schachter’s correct name is Levanto Schachter, MS. The publisher regrets the error.
In a recent article published in the Journal (Liao YH, Hwang LC, Kao JS, et al. Mr. Liao is also affiliated with the School of Public Health, Kaohsiung Medical University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
