The American Occupational Health Conference (AOHC) will be held from March 26 to 29, 2011, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Washington, DC. The AOHC will follow five educational tracks: OEM Clinical Practice; Management and Administration in OEM; OEM Education and Scientific Research; Environmental Health and Risk Management; and Regulatory, Legal, Military, and Governmental OEM Practice.
The opening session will begin Saturday morning, March 26, with the Sappington Lecture delivered by Mark Rosekind, PhD, of the National Transportation Safety Board, a recognized leader in evaluating the effects of fatigue on safety in transportation and in the workplace. Other AOHC highlights will include the Patterson Memorial Lecture presented by Mark Rothstein, JD, the Herbert F. Boehl Chair of Law and Medicine and Director of the Institute for Bioethics, Health Policy and Law at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, and the ACOEM Power Hour “Wake Up to Washington,” where David Michaels, Assistant Secretary for Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and John Howard, Director of the NIOSH, will discuss emerging issues in occupational safety and health.
Award presentations, the annual membership meeting luncheon featuring the induction of a new class of fellows and the transition of power to ACOEM's incoming officers and board of directors, worksite visits, semiplenary and meal sessions, optional events that include a visit to Capitol Hill, all round out this year's AOHC experience. The conference will conclude on Tuesday, March 29.

ACOEM's acclaimed pre-AOHC courses will be held from March 24 to 25, 2011. Single-day offerings on March 24 are MRO Assistant, Health and Productivity Management Clinic, and Work Disability Prevention for Clinicians: Mastering Your Role in the SAW/RTW Process. Two-day courses on March 24 to 25 will be the Medical Review Officer Fast Track, Occupational Medicine Board Review, and Foundations in Occupational Medicine Segment 2. Courses scheduled on March 25 include NIOSH-approved Spirometry Refresher: Physician Update and the OSHA Injury and Illness Recordkeeping Process.

The International Occupational Health Research Conference 2011, Risks Associated to Nanoparticles and Nanomaterials, will be held from April 5 to 7, 2011, in Nancy, France, at the Palais des Congrès. It is organized by the Institut National de Recherche et de Sécurité in association with the Partnership for European Research in Occupational Safety and Health.
The conference is intended to bring together researchers, experts, and practitioners from various backgrounds with the aim of sharing the latest knowledge and discussing research needs on the following scopes related to occupational risks associated to nanoparticles and nanomaterials: health effects, assessment, characterization of nanomaterials, exposure measurement and assessment, emission control and protective equipment, and risk assessment and risk management.
